What is the issue we are fighting ?
In short, the issue is that the City of Phoenix is restricting access to almost 22,000 acres of outdoor mountain parks and trails in Phoenix, which are publicly funded and are used by hundreds of thousands of Phoenicians, residents of the greater Valley of the Sun and visitors. The city argues that this is necessary to improve the the safety of the trail users and the first responders.
Based on open source data of the the rescues and the visitor counts, we dispute this narrative. On top of that, there are many less impactful ways to reduce the already small number of rescues, which we have outlined on our alternative solutions page.
How did we get here ?
