2024 Rescue Data Available

Now that the 2024 City of Phoenix rescue data is complete and publicly available, the final number of mountain rescues is in. While the 213 mountain rescues exceed the 2023 number, it is lower than 9 out of the 10 years prior.

The 2024 visit numbers are not yet final, but we estimate them to be around 3 million visits, down from a high of 3.5M in 2021.

Put in perspective: an average visitor to the Phoenix Parks system has the same likelihood of needing a rescue as they have of being struck by lightning in their lifetimes. We sincerely hope both won’t happen of course !
